Schools

Hokes Bluff schools have long been a cornerstone of the community’s growth and spirit. Education in Hokes Bluff began with small one-room schools scattered throughout the area, eventually uniting into a single school that evolved over time to meet the needs of a growing population. Hokes Bluff High School, established in 1935, has served generations of students and moved to its current campus on Appalachian Highway in 1985. The former high school building became Hokes Bluff Middle School, now serving grades 6–8 in a modern facility completed in 2010, with additions such as a gymnasium and band room enhancing student life.

Hokes Bluff Elementary, located on Main Street, provides education for Pre-K through 5th grade and stands on the site that once housed the city’s original high school. Together, the three schools—Hokes Bluff Elementary, Middle, and High—form a continuous pathway of learning under the Etowah County Schools system. Each school remains committed to offering a safe, supportive environment where students develop academic skills, character, and community pride to prepare for future success.
